The final round of the 2025 Pirelli Motul Victorian Road Race Championship has been run and won at Broadford International Raceway.

It was a bitter sweet affair for our very own Harley (Sauce) Side. Aboard his Race Center Yamaha R6 (Nev), Sauce has been the pace setter for much of the 2025 VRRC Supersport season winning more races than any other rider. Yet his hunt for the championship was all but over early in the year when he was forced to sit out round 2 of the 4 round series due to a concussion sustained in a motocross training accident.

Making the decision to sit out round 2 was in some ways a difficult call as Harley was pretty close to being OK to race and we knew missing the round would all but rule us out of the championship fight. Yet with time to reflect and now that the dust has settled, we are really happy with the decision, while small, the risk of Harley knocking his head again so soon after the concussion was not a risk worth taken with his long term health and well being.

To his credit, Saucey never dropped his lip about the situation and just accepted the cards that were dealt.

Upon his return to the series in round 3 & 4, Saucey was utterly dominant, winning all 6 remaining races in a row! Eventual, and deserved championship winner, John Quinn, put up a solid fight particularly in race 3, however anyone that has raced Harley and his Race Center FD-04 shod R6 knows he is one tough bugger to beat, especially on the brakes, and Harley came out on top to make it a beautiful 6 pack of wins. Seriously impressive performance by the Sauce Bottle.

We do have to add that being out of the championship hunt allowed us to race with a freedom that championship contenders Quinny and Jason Spencer couldn't, still 6 in a row is mighty impressive.

Who knew, Sauce now comes in a Six Pack

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Harley was grilled about his year.

Sky Sports "So now that you have had time to sit back and reflect, with your pace, does it eat at you even just a bit that you missed round 2? "

Sauce "Did I miss Round 2?"

Sky Sports "Yes, you had a concussion, remember?"

Sauce "Nup! Grouse, I have never had a concussion before, I bet it was a mad sleep :)"

Sky Sports "Are you ok Harley?"

Sauce "I ride a Yamaha, not a Harley"

Sky Sports promptly contacted Race Center to express their concern that Harley may not have recovered from his concussion. We set them at ease when we informed them that this is just his normal state, we actually thing he was born with a concussion.

Massive congratulations to Saucey and his team. Saucey's crew in 2025 were Dingo Meade, Joey Sunshine Miles & Glenn BOD Side, backed up by Daz as the rider coach and suspension setup. All did a stella job all year with NEV running flawlessly all season.
