Whats included in a Motorcycle Service?

In order to understand what is included in a service, the first thing we need to know is the different types of activities included in a service.

These are:

  • I - Inspection

  • R - Scheduled Replacement

  • SA - Service / Adjust / Clean / Lubricate etc.

During the service, where we find issues that fall outside the service scope, these form Variations.

So, for example; A General Service will include a full Brake Inspection, however the service does not include replacement of items, such as pads, should they need it. During the inspection should we find the pads are close to, or beyond their wear limit, this would then form a variation. We then report and quote variations for your approval before we go ahead.

With all our servicing work, we inspect the motorcycle thoroughly in the initial phase of the job so that we uncover any potential issues as soon as possible. We then report any variations with detail and a quote.

We do NOT just go ahead with variations without your knowledge and approval. That way you won't be presented with bill shock once it comes time to pick up your pride and joy.

The table above gives you an indication of the types of things including in a service. This is generic and some models differ however this gives you a general idea.

  • I - Inspection

  • R - Scheduled Replacement

  • SA - Service / Adjust / Clean / Lubricate etc.

Job Reporting

We provide a detailed report on all work done as well, not just the variations. We even provide photos of the work so that you can rest assured the work has actually been done.

We it comes to extra work or variations for you to consider, we categories them by criticality:

  • Critical

  • Recommended for Reliability

  • Recommended for Performance, Lap Time or Improved Safety

  • Nice to Have

  • Future Recommendation

This ensures you are properly informed. Then you can decide which variations you'd like to proceed with and ensures you are in control of the job costs.

It is important to know that finding variations can be common during a service. Some workshops work on a 'get it in and out' business model. This they may either turn a blind eye to variations or just do them without your pre-approval or a combination of the two.

Here at Race Center, we operate on thoroughness and reporting all issues. If there are issues, we strive to uncover them before they leave you by the side of the road or create a safety or reliability issue.
